Thomas Bayer

Bayer has held different senior management positions for Siemens and Körber in the parcel/mail sector sector over the last 20 years. Since 2017, he has been shaping the digitalization of Siemens Logistics for the parcel market and is currently responsible for Körber's digital parcel business. He started his career in industrial research developing innovative SW solutions in the field of AI and machine learning.

Unleashing the power of AI in parcel operation

AI has massive potential to improve daily parcel operations. Representative and massive data is the key for all AI applications as it is indispensable for training, e.g. for deep learning or reinforcement learning. The presentation will focus on how to efficiently provide data for training AI models and apply these models for various practical use cases, such as volume prediction; image analytics, such as jam detection; predictive maintenance; control of sorting systems; large language models (LLMs), etc. Major European and US carriers already benefit from these use cases provided by Körber.
