Small-parcel handling innovations (
Vanderlande

Online shoppers are used to ordering a broad range of goods, which has created a challenge for parcel delivery companies. As well as handling increasing volumes, they must deal with significant growth in the proportion of small parcels coming through their depots.

Processing these items relies on manual activities such as heavy lifting and repetitive actions. This is an issue for the parcel industry because it is difficult to recruit and retain labor. To meet the needs of overstretched depots, Vanderlande will demonstrate its new auto-consolidated bagging solution for small parcels – Parceltrax – at the expo.

Compared with manual and semi-automated handling processes, Parceltrax reduces the number of operators needed to manage the sorter’s capacity and throughput. It also uses the existing footprint around and beneath the small-parcel sorter to maximize the use of space. In addition, the Parceltrax hanger system is compatible with all small parcel bags so it can be easily integrated into a sortation center’s ongoing operations.
The quality and reliability of Vanderlande’s sorting systems are well recognized by the leading industry players. The company’s products sort more than 48 million items every day and are used by the world’s top parcel delivery companies.

Vanderlande has been active in the industry for over 75 years and offers an extensive portfolio of integrated solutions, including unloading and sorting systems, intelligent software and lifecycle services. Its innovations provide fast, reliable and efficient automation technology with a proven track record in the most advanced parcel hubs.
